Field investigations in the landslide area „Ober Weidist“, Altstätten (SG), concluded for now
In connection with the big landslide Weidist above Altstätten in canton St. Gallen comprehensive field and lab investigations were carried out in the last months. These have now been concluded. Among other things, 3 rotational core drillings down to a depth of 70 m, comprehensive geodetic measurements, analysis of high resolution aerial images taken by drones, C14-dating and inclinometer measurements were carried out. This enables us now to get a clear picture about the sliding mechanism and the resulting consequences.
The analysis of the various survey shows that a possible slip plane lies 50 m under the surface. This makes a long-term and technically faultless stabilisation of the huge slide mass demanding.
