Additional drillings in connection with groundwater surveillance for the tunnel Ruckhalde, St. Gallen

In connection with the tunnelling work for the tunnel Ruckhalde in St. Gallen, which will be taken up by the Appenzeller Bahnen AG from winter 2014/2015 onwards, the groundwater level has to be lowered on a larger scale. Our office has been attending to the geological-hydrogeological aspects of this project since 2006 and now we are also able to supervise the surveillance measures for this lowering of the groundwater level.

For this purpose, additional 3 to 4 surveillance drillings will be carried out at conclusive locations. Those will be equipped with 4.5” piezometer tubes for groundwater surveillance. After this, around 25 drillings will be available in the area of the tunnel Ruckhalde respectively within its inflow and outflow perimeter. These drillings will be equipped with automatic level recorders for groundwater surveillance.

The goal of this measurement campaign is to make sure that no project caused damages occur while lowering the groundwater level or downstream within the area of the re-infiltration facilities.
